Now with the season underway, what team do we think has the best chance to win the Super Bowl? Will the Seahawks run it back and become the 10th team to repeat as champions? Does Josh Allen finally get over the hump and bring the Bills their first Lombardi Trophy? Does the super team of the Rams take the trophy, or do Joe Burrow and the Bengals get their revenge and bring the trophy home to Cincinnati?
The Seahawks are looking untouchable through these first two weeks of the season. After opening the season with a 13-10 win over the Patriots, they then had a 31-7 stomper over the Cardinals. They are doing this without star quarterback Sam Darnold, who went down on the 5th play of the season. Backup quarterback Drew Lock stepped into the role and helped take the Seahawks to their first two wins. They have had one player who has stepped up the most this season, and that player is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This wide receiver has stepped up the most in these first two games. In the first two games, he has 17 receptions for 277 yards and 4 touchdowns, doing all of this with a backup quarterback. Against the Patriots in their Super Bowl rematch, he went for 11 receptions, 122 yards, and 1 touchdown. He scored a touchdown against arguably the best corner in the league, Christian Gonzalez. If the Seahawks are looking to repeat as champions, it's going to have to be off the back of JSN, who has been carrying them these first two weeks of the season.
When it comes to the Bills, it’s going to have to be about Josh Allen. Through the first two weeks of the season, Josh Allen has looked unstoppable. In Week 1 against the standout number one defense going into the season, he put up 36 points, throwing for 334 yards and 2 touchdowns, and running for 23 yards and 2 touchdowns. Then against the Lions, he put up 5 total touchdowns. When it comes to Buffalo winning the Super Bowl, it comes down to Josh Allen playing like Superman. He’s the backbone of this team, but he doesn’t do it all alone, with DJ Moore and James Cook to help take the load off Josh Allen. Last season, James Cook went nuclear, having over 1,900 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns. The run that the Bills want to go on is going to have to be on the offensive side of the ball, with Josh Allen and James Cook having to go nuclear.
Now for the Rams: the team that created the super team to win the Super Bowl, trading for Myles Garrett in the offseason. Then the most shocking news of the offseason happened, and it’s not the Myles Garrett trade—Aaron Donald unretired and re-signed with the Rams. Coming into the season, the Rams had the highest preseason odds to win the Super Bowl at +500. Then they went to Australia to play the 49ers and got blown out, losing 27-7. They got back on track and put a stomping on the Giants, 28-6. Out of these teams, the Rams do have the most well-rounded team, with defending MVP Matthew Stafford, touchdown magnet Davante Adams, one of the best wide receivers in the league Puka Nacua, last year's sack leader Myles Garrett, and how can we forget Aaron Donald? If the Rams want to bring the trophy back to LA, they need to tighten up the cornerbacks and get over these injury hurdles.
Now for the underdog Bengals. I believe they have just as good a shot as the other teams. With Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase connecting again, the last time these two were connecting like this was 2021 when they went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Rams. Now they have a defense that can actually help them, adding star D-tackle Dexter Lawrence. Now, here's why I believe the Bengals can win the Super Bowl: Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase staying healthy and connecting like they did in Week 2 against the Texans, when he had 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. If Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase can continue to keep up their connection, then they are the team to beat in the AFC. If their defense can keep this up, then I don’t see anyone keeping up with the Bengals, and I see a Lombardi Trophy coming to Cincinnati. If this defense can step up like they have been these past two weeks, then no offense can keep up with the Bengals.
My pick for the Super Bowl is a Bengals-Rams rematch of 2021, and I see the Bengals getting their revenge on the Rams and bringing the trophy home to Cincinnati.
