Dylan Haraldson (2027)
TreVeyon Henderson is one of the most explosive running backs in recent history. At least that is the narrative surrounding him. But first we must understand him to get the full picture. He was drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft out of Ohio State University. He had an impressive combine performance boasting a 4.43 forty time. He had been productive in college but nothing spectacular. He entered a frankly stale and dead RB room and he was expected to revamp it. This was far from the truth
His rookie year was a ride of highs and lows. He struggled to see the field due to an inability to pass protect and he struggled with drops. A few explosive highlights capped an ultimately underwhelming rookie campaign. Now in year two we see the same story, he has not developed his weaknesses at all as he still struggles to see the field due to reasons previously stated. Here is the disconnect, a running back with highlights that stun as well as boasting an impressive 4.8 YPC according to ESPN… Or is that 4.8 YPC impressive?
Here is a new perspective, when Henderson is not hitting wide open lanes and simply accelerating past defenders with his speed his YPC drops down to a pathetic 2.45. To add insult to injury his Yards After Contact is 2.35 according to PFF. This stat could sound good on paper until you realise that even the league's worst rotational running backs get 2.5 as a minimum.
This prompts the question, is TreVeyon Henderson legit? Or has his standing been elevated by the opportunities nearly any running back could make if they had been on the field whether it's a wide open lane due to a poor defensive play call or a killer lead block by Pop Douglas. If the patriots had any other running back their run game would increase in production drastically.
